Giant Haka – Guinness World Record set with help from Boost

Event: Giant Haka

Client: Rotorua Lakes Council – Major Events

Date: Saturday 17th June 2017

Event Summary: The Giant Haka World Record attempt was part of the line-up of events delivered during the British & Irish Lions Rugby Tour.

The Giant Haka is owned by the International Rugby Club, who partnered with Rotorua Lakes Council to deliver the event. The idea was to break the existing world record (held in France) and bring the record back home to New Zealand. We needed over 4500 people to break the record, and by our initial counts we kicked that with 8000 people through the gates!

Boost's Involvement: Boost came on board in a support role to help coordinate and deliver the Haka World Record event in the final stages. We worked with RLC to bring all event logistical details together and ensure the event reached its targets while maintaining cultural & historical integrity. We also had an on the day interactive element with members of our team running activities, a fan fair area and helping with a charity collection.

Event Feedback: The Giant Haka World Record Attempt was a great success! Not only did we reach our targets, but we did so with awesome feedback. The event has been mentioned all over the world and even considered an 'off the field' highlight of the tour by many. The event owners praised Boost and Rotorua Lakes Council for all the work put in to set a new World Record!
